Nepal beat Bhutan by 8 wickets at the ACC Women´s Championship yesterday at the Prem Oval, Thailand.
Nepal won the toss and decided to field first.
Bhutan made 65 runs in allotted 25 overs losing 8 wickets, while Nepal managed to chase and pile required number in 13.4 overs loosing just 2 wickets.
It is the second meeting between the two national sides in women’s cricket. Nepal had met Bhutan in the ACC Women’s T20 Championship in 2009 and won the match by eight wickets. Nepal had bowled Bhutan for 31 runs in 15.5 overs and met the target in 8.4 overs losing two wickets.
Nepalese and Bhutanese woman cricketers have clashed twice in the age group tournaments. Nepali U-19 girls had defeated Bhutan by six wickets in the final of the ACC U-19 Women´s Championship in 2010 and had pulled three-wicket victory in the semi-final of the 2012 edition of the same tournament.
Bhutan thrashed Malaysia by 32 runs in their first match on Wednesday. Bhutan put up 133/4 in allotted 25 overs and restricted Malaysia to 101/6 at the end.
The winner of the ACC Women´s Championship will qualify to play ICC World T20 World Cup Qualifiers to be held in Ireland in August this year.
Likewise Iran beat Qatar by six wickets on Thursday while Thailand thrashed Kuwait by 10 wickets. Meanwhile, China beat Singapore by 10 wickets and Hong Kong defeated Malaysia by 21 runs.
In the upcoming matches Bhutan face Hong Kong on Sunday and UAE on Monday.
