Bhutan’s U-14 girls’ football team will head to Sri Lanka Sunday to participate in Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Under-14 Girls Regional Championship of the South and Central from March 5 to 10.
The participating teams are Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Iran, Tajikistan and Sri Lanka.
Bhutan will play Sri Lanka on March 5.
Bhutan’s team comprises of students who were selected from the winter coaching camp held in Phuentsholing earlier this year. The team has undergone training sessions at CHanglimithang football ground in Thimphu.
This is the second time Bhutanese U-14 team is participating in U-14 championship.
Bhutan will face Tahikistan on March 6, Iran on March 7,
Bangladesh on March 9 and India on March 10.
Meanwhile, back at home, an Indian football club, Sikkim United, led by former Indian football captain BaichungBhutia, is in the capital. The club will play friendly matches with three local Bhutanese football clubs – with Drukpol tomorrow, Zimdra FC on March 5 and Yeedzin FC on March 7. The tournaments will be held at Changlimithang football ground.
