The first year students of Royal Thimphu College participated in their first-ever student government (SG) elections on August 21. Tshering Peldon and Mashur Thapa were elected to the student government.

The election took place at the college’s auditorium. Candidates were given a few minutes each to speak to the voters.

Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) were hired from the office of the Election Commission of Bhutan. For the students who could not vote at the recent general election, it was their first time using EVM to cast their ballot.

The election was fair and free and the ECB officials counted the votes in public.
