Sudha Shah, a renowned Indian author who was in the country for the Mountain Echoes Literary Festival from August 8 to 11, visited Royal Thimphu College on August 9 to talk about her book The King in Exile: The Fall of the Royal Family of Burma.

The King in Exile: The Fall of the Royal Family of Burma is a biography of the last king of Burma, King Thibaw and his family.

Shah talked about how she ended up researching and writing the book that was shortlisted for the Shakti Bhatt First Book Prize 2012 and for the Tata Literature Live First Book Award 2012.

The beautifully written book is full of intrigues and dramas. The author has managed with exceptional literary finesse to preserve factual narrative of colonial brutality and the fall of the royal house of Burma.
