Dechen Zangmo, Druk Phuensum Tshogpa’s (DPT) candidate for Nanong-Shumar constituency, began her campaign from Khothakpa.

DPT’s Zangley Dukpa from Khar-Yurung and Rinzin Jamtsho from Kengkhar-Weringla introduced Dechen Zangmo to the voters in the constituency.

“By voting for me, you will be voting for the cause of women. And in doing so, you will be expressing your confidence and trust in women who are your mothers, wives, sisters and daughters,” she told the voters, and emphasised on the importance of adequate women representation in the parliament.

DPT has no woman MP in the Parliament.

“If you vote for me, I will at least be the lone voice for women from the opposition in the Parliament,” said she.

Since the Parliament has already approved the planned activities based on the proposals from the local governments and promises of the elected representatives, there is nothing new that she has to promise her potential voters.

“But if I am elected I will work hard to make all the planned activities come true,” said Dechen Zangmo, and highlighted the good worked done by the DPT government in the last five years.

“Voting for me will be a way to acknowledge the good deeds done by the party, the results of which are all there for us to see,” she said.
