The national Assembly passed the National Assembly (Amendment) Bill 2014 after 30 Members voted ‘Yes’ and 13 Members voted ‘No’.

A total of 46 Members were present during the voting. Following the voting result, the Member from Dremetse Ngatshang constituency expressed his opinion on why he was not in favour of passing the Bill.

He said that one of the main amendments in the Bill pertained to section 240 which was not endorsed as proposed by the Committee. Section 240 provides formation of a Finance Committee and therefore referral of Supplementary Budget Bill and the Budget Appropriation Bill to the Committee.
